Default LS6 Intake Installed Now Hurt Motor?

Hey guys i only installed a new ls6 slp with egr intake on my 98 z28 and ran it at the track this weekend the car went dead consistant and actually i went 5 rnds but 6th round it slowed .30 so i ipull back to the pits and now it has like a pinging knocking rattling noice from under the manifold and it shuts off. the guy that does my trannys in our race car came over and said he thought it was like a pushrod, lifter, valve noice. what the hell happend this car is bone stock motor wise, has like 25000 miles on it? what should i check i will have it towed to my house tomorow to start the teardown.

A lot of dirt accumulates around the intake manifold area, it is very possible that something slipped into the intake port while you were swapping manifolds.
