If you notice around the motor case flange at the gear end - there are several holes. Three of these will line up with the holes that remain after you drilled out the factory rivets. The fasteners used are really small screws with nuts that fit in the holes - easy to lose in the bottom of the door if/when you drop them
All of the aftermarket motors that I have seen come with the screws - no rivets.

I recommend spending a little more and getting a motor from a local parts store with a lifetime warranty - I got a new GM unit off ebay (not the linked company) and it's noisy - while the panel was off I would've been able to return it immediately.

I just bought the one from autozone (dorman?) replacement for siemens.. anyway I think it's pretty noisy honestly (compared to the ac delco that was in there before). It is much faster tho. $55+tax. I just bought one on eBay for like $28 shipped with lifetime warranty and free shipping if it ever has to be replaced.

Talk about thread revival....... any way.. my motor is out and i have a rivet gun but wanted some input on which has worked out better. Bolts or rivets. I think rivits would be best just due to the fact that nuts can work loose, even with loctite. anyone have their nuts come off (ha ha)?

You can use a nylock, lock washer, or double nut it if you are worried. Or all three if you're nuts (pun intended). Either way, I wouldn't use rivets, just more work later if you have to remove the motor again.
On mine, I used the hardware that came with the motor. Its nuts, bolts, and "star" washers. So far its holding fine.

Just replaced my driver's side today. It was $55 + tax from Advanced w/ a lifetime warrenty. Took me a couple hours today but it was worth it instead of paying someone $300+ to do it for me.
