popping sound?

popping sound? well every time my car has been sitting for a couple of hours, every time i get in and move it i hear a popping sound in 1st or reverse, and it only happens then, if i stop at a light nothing happens, 
recently i blew i out my front pinion seal in my diff, but i replaced it and had no problems
