oil on the spark plug thread Pic's

yes I did a search. I didn't find the answer I wanted.

I did a spark plug change and found oil on the spark plug threads only on cylinder #7. This is the second time Ive changed the spark plugs and oil was there the other time (4000miles ago). I would like to know if it is my PCV valve causing it?

so is this enough oil it get oil on the spark plug threads?
I do not consume oil at all and if I do its not noticeable

Thank You
Joe

Those look like good plugs to me. A little bit of black is fine as long as it isn't still wet.

that's what I thought.
I'm just trying to find the cause of my KR at 4100-4800RPMs and Its gone by 5000RPMs. I think Ill try some top end cleaner

thanks

I get some oil on the plug threads too on #7 and I think #2 as well. I've never really given it much thought because there is never any oil on the electrode or anywhere on the tip of the plug, just on the threads.

Also, my motor consumes 0 amount of oil. It does get oil in the intake through the PCV but I don't let that concern me as it's not enough to cause any noticeable consumption issues.

That's how my plugs looked too, I wouldn't sweat it.

Cool pics of the inside of your intake :)

Yeah they look to be in ok condition

I have the same problem, and I'm just curious how it is "ok" that oil is on our spark plugs. Is there any rationalized reason behind this?

Well I look at it like this,

- No oil to be found on the electrode, only minor amounts on the threads of 2 or 3 cylinders.

- My motor consumes no measureable amount of oil between changes.

- I have no misfire conditions.

- Motor runs/idles fine.

So I guess you could say that it's not so much that it's "ok" to find this condition, but since I don't see any ill side effects after many years, it's just not worth worrying about.
