Default Popping noise and rattle in rain.

Only when it's raining and I drive through a puddle of water or hit a bump my car will start making a steady repeated popping noise and something will thump the floorboard and the shifter will actually vibrate. The sound sounds and feels like it's coming from about the shifter all the way back. (it's an automatic) It's undrivable bad, but only when it rains. The best way I can explain the sound is it sounds like one of those kids toys lawn mowers that they push and the center pops up and causes those ***** to hit the wall. I checked the transmission mount and it's okay, the driveshaft is okay as it was removed and checked. The rear end is okay and was checked by a mechanic. I cannot find anything loose or broken. Any ideas where to start looking? I'm stumped, thanks!

Default

Is it possible that a bad transmission mount would only show signs of damage in the rain? All the symptoms sound just like a broken transmission mount, but only in the rain. I've got one order anyways.
