Default Flush kit - which heater hose to cut???

I want to flush my cooling system because I have no heat and my car runs hot during idle. I already replaced the waterpump, thermostat and performed a normal Prestone flush and I still have no heat and my engine gets up to 210 when stuck in traffic. I am thinking that I may have a clog in the system. Is it ok to use a flush kit that comes with a tee so that the system can be backflushed? If so which hose do I cut to install the tee that the garden hose attaches to? I looked at the instructions on the kit and it says to cut the heater hose runing from the firewall to the top of the engine and not the one that attaches to the waterpump. When I look at the two heater hoses they both attach to the waterpump. What gives???

THANKS
