Napa gold (wix) is a good filter. very trustworthy products. also, weight has nothing to do with it... lol. it's their quality of reinforcements like anti-warp/crack and their mechanical filtration system. not the actual filter...

Where did you find the German Castrol? I've visited at least 5 AutoZones locally and none of them have it, all the quarts say Made in the USA.

I still have 5 of them new from my dealer last year when I heard a rumor they were going to discontinue them. 1 is on my car now.

I had to buy a minimum of 6 which I did. I don't think they sell them anymore.

Yessir. I also run the GC 0/30 (german). The amount of oil doesn't affect the pressure like the filter does on mine.

What I don't understand is the long filter for my lt1 car is 2 times as big as my long ls1 filter. Thats just crazy! the stock ls1 filter looks like a ricer oil filter.

Probably be OK. Mine was low and after a few short drives I saw some nicks on the filter. I switched to a Wix that was much longer than the std PF46 but not as long as the PF61. Sorry I can't remember the Wix number.

For my first oil change Im using:
KN Performance Gold Filter
Castrol Syntec Blend 10W40. Blend because the car had conventional oil when I got it so I going to move it over gradually and 10W40 because the engine has so many miles. If its under 100K I say go for 10W30.

I've got the longer Wix and a bunch of the longer AC Delco filters on my shelf. I swap between the two and have had no issues with either.

My headers, air deflector and k member would sooner crunch the ground before the oil fiter gets touched. It's nice to have the long filter because you can actually get a grip on it.
