Default Power steering leak from large nut on rack??

Not sure exactly what is behind this thing, so I dont want to mess with it before asking. What can I do to fix this leak? Is it just a plug in there and a washer or?

Just want to be sure before I start to take things appart

ok so found out that was a plug, and now is it leaking at the rack where the steering shaft goes in. That struck me as odd. It is a pretty bad leak from there. Do they sell any kind of rebuild kit for the steering racks?

I have the same leak that you are talking about and was wondering the same thing. I had a friend look at it and he said that it was "normal" but I really can't see a leak being normal. It might not affect anything but I personally do not care for fluid where it isn't supposed to be. TTT for now

Shouldnt leak, but seems to seep fluid out over time. I have never heard of someone re-building a rack and pinoin, have a remanufactured rack installed. Check for other steering and suspension looseness perform an alignment if all else passes!

I am sure NAPA or O'reilys can order one for you.
Not the funniest thing to change without a lift and or proper tools-but anything is possible!
