Default How to remove oil filler neck

I've noticed that the seal for my engine oil breather is not on good and there is a small amount of oil residue leaking. I ned to remove it, but don't want to damage anything and make thing worse. I need the correct procedure to remove this, so I can fix it.

I had to remove the whole valve cover to get mine off, but I still ended up breaking it. You'll be able to figure it out once you look at it from underneath the cover.

So the only way to remove the filler neck is to take off the valve cover?

For me that was the EASIEST way...plus I didn't want an errant piece of plastic breaking off and getting into my oil passages.

The O-ring on my filler neck had come up from between the neck and the valve cover. I just worked it back into place with a screwdriver.
