Default What fluid is this?

Came home from work last nite, and my car had leaked the nite before. It left about 1/2 cup of mostly clear with a pinkish tint fluid. No smell. Clutch fluid is ok, brakes are ok, power steering fluid ok. Puddle was off to the right side of the underneath. What is left? Car is M6 - so it is not ATF. Can Koni's leak? I will lift it up tonite and see if I can see the source. Thoughts?

ATF fluid has a very distinct smell though, enough to notice anyway.

It is too clear to be ATF. How do you tell if shock has leaked?

Dexron III (yes your transmission is filled with ATF even though it's a manual) looks pink.

Also, the right side of the transmission is where the drain plug is.

Doesn't hurt to just put a finger around the plug and make sure.....

Shock oil is clear IIRC (my 5.0 had adjustable KYB's and one took a shat on me) its a lot like cooking oil to the look/touch/taste.

My vote goes for power-steering fluid, that has a kindof clear/orange-yellow tint that could be mistaken for pinkish in small quantities maybe. When you say right side, do you mean sitting in the car or looking at it from the front?

If you had a Honda I would just say buy the damn thing a tampon and that would solve it.

Lifted the front end and crawled up under there - I SEE NOTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE IT IS LEAKING!!!! Clueless now. Maybe something got spilled that wasn't from the car. I don't know. Car runs fine. I looked really close around both sides of the tranny, and nothing. I thought it could be power steering fluid, but mine is really dark, definitely not clear. I will check it again in the morning before I leave. Anyway, thanks.

LEMONADE LEAK!!!

Take it to that little girl down the street, she'll hook you up. At 5 cents a cup, though, it ain't cheap.

Seriously, it's probably nothing.

All you have to do is rub your hand down the shock - If its wet then you blew your shock (because it always blows the seal at the top never anywhere else)

Put some paper under the car at night and see if anything leaks on it.

Drove my car today first time in a month. Came back home and noticed a clear fluid under the rt frt. Got to looking and found the positive terminal of the battery is leaking. The acid did not mess up the floor until I moved the fluid around. Go figure.
Just a thought, if you stil have the factory battery. Mine is still original, but now it will have to go.

That same thing happened to me last week--I now have a new battery also.
