Question need any and all F-body owners input about steering wheel

Im selling my car (2000 T/A) and A guy that looked at it said "what wronge with the steering wheel". I said idunno with a puzzled look on my face. WHat he noticed was that when you pull the steering wheel it will move down about an inch but returnes to normal position when you let it go. It dosnt move freely, only when you pull on it. Ive noticed it sence I bought it 4 years ago and my last trans am did the exact same thing. no drivability issues or mechanical(i dont think). anyway? is there something wronge with it?

Can anyone else tell me if their steering wheel will move in the same way?

My guess is exactly what you said. The retaining bolts in the tilt knuckle have backed out some. They re a pain in the butt to get to in order to tighten them up.

No mine does not do this, but I have never had a reason to pull it down to see. There are some crush zones built into the steering wheels for if you have a wreck so that if your chest impacts the steering wheel it will allow the column to absorb some of the impact energy, but I dont think the problem you are describing is part of this.

mine does it and i tried to fix it, but i could only get to 1 (of the 3) bolt... i was trying for the 2nd bolt but could not get the metal rod that controls the highbeam out (it was so close to the bolt that the socket would not go on..)

BTW it was a PITA taking everything apart cause the wires only stretch so far...

Mine does it but I dont think its a big deal. If it is, indeed, caused by screws backing out then is it possible that this thing is just going to end up in my lap one day?
