i have a 2000 ws-6 and i wasnt to change the transmission oil, where do i start does anybody know what kind of oil to use and how much i am suppose to use, i would appreciate.

i advise you take it to someone....1. being your not going to be able to flush the fluid...2. not a dig at you but it seems your not really proficent on a A4.....so let someone else do it right, watch, and learn....3. just changing the fluid and filter only changes about 1/3 of the fluid in a tranny.....unlike getting it flushed

And thats why i like the M6. just one drain plug and your gold.

No big deal changing the fluid. Still no need for an M6, IMO. :P

Drop the pan, change the filter. This will replace about 4-5 quarts of fluid. Or you could do a full flush if you want, but you'll need to take it somewhere to get that done. If you're the type that's willing to drop the pan and change fluid every 10-20k (depending on driving style/type), you really don't need a full flush.

Just be careful not to over tighten the trans pan bolts when you reinstall. :)

for one. YOU DO NOT EVER want to flush your transmission fluid unless you know for a fact the car has been flushed before. if you have a high milageage car and since its 2000 model im assuming its got like 75k+ miles on it. if you dont know wether or not the car has been flushed. DONT do it. a flush on a high mileage Transmission can destroy the transmission. just drop the pan. drain it. clean filter or use a new one wichever get new seals and use the correct type oil. and poor the oil in through the trans dipstick. its alot safer to have some of that old tranny fluid mixed with new good stuff than to flush the old fluid out.

go to any trans guys and they will tell you the same. because if it hasnt been done since the early life of the car. their could be built up metal shavings and a flush will push them all through the tranny.

Not saying a M6 truly needs it, but on the off chance your bored or have a highly modified one that burns the fluid fast..

It never hurts to have new fluid in the M6

where is the plug on an M6 ? , bell housing on drivers side, square plug ?

The plug has an insert that you would stick a ratchet into (extension and ratchet) and unscrew, on my camaro they were both on the passengers side but i have heard the LS1's being on the drivers and passengers. I havent personally looked yet

thanks I overheated my motor and want to do a partial fluid change just in case i burt it up.
