Question Whose horn doesn't work when they want it to?

This has always bugged the hell outta me! Both on the '93 that I used to have and on my '00 SS, the horn works but never in the heat of the moment when I need it. Even when I'm just trying to tap it to acknowledge someone, the damn thing NEVER works the first time. I'll have to press it three or four times before it will honk. After that, it will honk every time I press it. Like this morning, I'm on my way into the office and I've been stuck behind an F-150 doing 30 mph in the left lane of a 45 mph four-lane. A couple of lights before my turn I finally get around this guy into the right lane with only two cars in front of me. The F-150 is now like six cars back in the left lane. Light turns green and the guy in front of me just sits there, on the phone! Now the six or seven cars in the left lane, including the F-150, have gone passed me on through the light. Of course that's when one would try to lay down on the horn to draw attention to the idiot on the cell phone and I do but, nothing happens. A couple more lights and I've passed my turn because I can't get around "talkie" and back into the left lane. That is, of course until the F-150 passes and I'm back behind him. But, since I never actually got to blow my horn at dipshit on the phone, I'm sure that I was perceived as "just an *******" because of the aggressive moves I made in order to back track to my destination.

So, how do I get my horn to work everytime I press it?!?

can you just peal the front cover off of the steering wheel to get to the buttons without worrying about the airbag?

My car set idle from 2003 to 2005 and the horn didn't work until i pressed it about 50 times and after sandpapering the contacts. The multimeter shows the contacts were to blame. No joke. Try polishing the contacts with some high count sandpaper.

Only other thing it could be if is someone pulled your steering wheel and broke the horn pin and maybe it doesn't make good contact.

1. With my cam and straight pipes dumped at the rear end you can't hear ****.
2. I think my horn has to be messed up cause it makes my car sound like a bitch, so now i just rev it to get someones attention. Plus its much more fun.

That's pretty much what I started doing. It's definitely more intimidating.

mine takes a good push, but you have to find the place to push it, basically grabbing the whole thing and trying to find where it will actually set the horn off! totally annoying

Press harder orthe right spot, mine seems the same, get really mad and pressi t harder and longer...or get an air horn. IMO it's not worth fixing...fixing little things like that in my car would take me every weekend for a year. Now an air horn would be worth rigging up though
