Default Help with 99 Camaro Pistons

Well i broke a valve spring and it bent the valve rod and caused maybe 1/4 inch scratches deep on the piston, my question is, does the piston have to be replaced, because the car shop said its going to cost $2000 if i get valve springs replaced and valve rod replaced, but $5000 if i get the piston replaced as well.

Any input would be appreciated

Thankyou

you put a scratch into the wall?...if there no damage to the piston no, you can keep your rotating assmebly....but you need to have that scratch taken care of

5000 is a little steep also, i mean honestly....get a new forged shortblock, some new valve springs...and your looking at around 4000.....seriously

No its a kinda deepish scratch/indent in the piston itself almost in the center as it was caused by the valve rod. Id say its maybe 1/4 of a quarter deep and about 1 1/2 inches long. Just need to know if im able to get away with not replacing the pistons as only replacing the valve rod and valve springs is going to be about $2000 whereas if replacing everything will be $5000, very costly and can not really afford it.
