Lookie What I Got Yesterday :)
18 quarts of GC 0W-30 (and a napa gold filter, only the best )
for all those interested: autozone is running a sale on ALL castrol oils until June 27. that means for another 10 days, you can scoop up GC 0W-30 for $4.49 a quart (all castrol syntec is on sale for $4.49/qt). i bought 17 quarts (i had 1 sitting at home) for $79 after tax! that means i'm good for the next 15,000 miles with oil - easily another year. by then, i'll surely be able to find castrol syntec on sale at autozone once again, so i'll just go there and raid their stash again.
as a point of reference: i went to buy GC 0W-30 2 weeks ago, but the autozone closest to me only had 4 quarts, so i bought mobil 1 5W-40 (i was running that now, but i was disappointed in it). i decided to take a ride to a different autozone yesterday, and they had exactly 18 quarts of GC on the shelf - there may have been more in the back, i didn't ask. the row was full. i brought back the mobil 1 5W-40, got my $37.xx back and put it toward the GC. basically, i got an extra oil change for free, all with a much better oil. stock up while you can!
i changed my oil today, and what do you know: 5 more psi of oil pressure at idle (i have about 45-50 psi idling - damn) and my engine is MUCH quieter now that i got that mobil 1 out of there. i'll never put anything but GC in my car again. i don't care if autozone stops carrying it. as long as i can get it online, i'll buy it.

And it looks green Kinda like thick ethylene glycol antifreeze.

only downside is it's $9.99 shipping so you're paying $49.98 a case...

"european formula" does NOT mean it's made in germany. you can get regular GC 0W-30 that's made in the USA, and i suspect you can do the same with the "european formula". it's just important to note that GC comes in both varieties. i'm not aware of the difference.
i'll take a pic of the bottles. they're very different, but they're both great.

maybe patman knows the difference between GC 0W-30 and GC 0W-30 european formula. hopefully he'll chime in.

OMG what a difference! The engine IMMEDIATELY got a lot quieter and is a LOT smoother. I never imagined that there could be THAT much difference between oils. I've used M1 all my life in different vehicles, but I'll never buy another quart. In fact, I also picked up two quarts of M1 5W-40 for my wife's Chevy Metro, but I think that I'm gonna return them and put GC 0W-30 in the Metro! lol!
Guys, if you're still running M1, give GC a try...believe me, you'll never go back!

Just wondering if anyone has any insights into whether this oil works well in LT1s. The engine has about 79k miles, I have been using conventional 5W30, not sure what was used before. It has a little bit of seepage from the front and rear crank seals, and burns some oil, which I believe is due to leaking valve seals, since it has no symptoms of bad compression. Any thoughts?
