I'm an idiot. I was stopped in my car and started to roll forward with my left hand at roughly 11'' o'clock. I goosed , if you will the throttle and in doing so tightend my grip where upon the steering wheel clicked down to the last from the second to last tilt position quite loudly and abruplty. To my dismay this was not just a fluke and shit really does seem broke. There is not alot of movement in the steering wheel as much as it seems that the whole column is moving, more in some tilt positions than others. My first guess is a type of "crash stick", one of the mounts that absorbs your body's impact when you crash. Any help is greatly appreciated. terry |
Did you check your Tilt Lever , maybe it didnt retract all the way back to lock. How often do you move your Tilt adjustment. If your one of those people who always pulls it when you ready to get out of the car and the wheel flys up then chances are it is worn. I barely if ever move mine, The seat is so adjustable you dont need to move the tilt. |
I do use the tilt quite often, but I tend to ease up the wheel as to preserve the wheel . I really do try, and that being the case I'm alittle dissapointed because I know two other vehicles have held up to the same style of driving. I did not check the tilt lever because the steering wheel seems locked in place, but it is the whole column that now has more movement. I'm going on 56,000 miles, I really wasn't expecting this problem. Am I wrong? |
