Oil leaked onto my exhaust and dried up?

Oil leaked onto my exhaust and dried up? My exhaust has all this dry oil on the driver's side from the valve cover leaking. it looks dried up because it broke off in pieces when i tried wiping it off with a towel. what damage can this cause? does this have anything to do with the vibration i'm feeling under my seat? the oil didn't get on the O2 sensor and it is past the bandclamp.
