Default Hit Starter with Open end now wont start

I was changing out the header bolts and while under the car changing #8 bolt out the wrench slipped out of my hand hit the starter and arched. Now the car wont start.

Checked
The Relay
ALL Fuses in the boxes

Car will start IF we use a paper clip in the spot for the Relay but wont stay running when we remove it.

Replaced the old relay with a newer on and still wouldnt start.

Some one said to me something about an inline fuse,,, I am going De de dee on that cause I have no clue where to even start.

SO anyone help thanx

theres probably a signal wire that might of shorted or burned out when you arched it and its not telling the starter when tour turning the ignition.

its gonna sound wierd....but unhook your alternator and starter....then hook them back up and see if it works....a short can lock the regulator in the alternator not allowing it start the car

The car will start when the relay is jumped via paper clip from 86 to 87.

i am not saying your wrong about the alt starter thing but the car did start when i jumped the relay and turned the key at the same time so i dont think that is what it is....

what is the possibility of it being a fusable link? i know there are some of those in the fuse block any near the ign and starter relay.

anyone have a wire diagram for that fuse block? or know what spots should be hot when the key is turned to start?

Checked more stuff tonight, all the wires checked out okay. Here is what I have figured out with help that is, that the VATS is keeping the car from starting. I was reading the manual and I came across that and Mitch checked all possible other issues. I turned the key to start and noticed the Security light flashing on the dash and the red light on the dash blinking like a crack head. So I made a phone call to Virgina to a buddy and asked him did he think it was the VATS as well. He told me to first try to disconnect the battery for 30 min, which I did but am not going to attempt to start to car till day break. IF that doesnt solve it then go in with HPT and write out the VATS system. I hope its the first thing though much eaiser. I will keep posted as we progress on this matter. I feel like a tool for not disconnecting the battery though!!!!!!!!!!!

Shiloh (F-Body Queen) came by hooked up HPT for me and did all she could do, Both HPT and EFI LIve didnt throw any codes. So she woke up a few people she knows and everyone concluded it is the VATS. SO I have to take it to Jackson Auto today to have them fix it.. YEah... but atleast I know the problem. I still Feel like a tool.............

THANX SHILOH for ur help
