Security problem....
Sometimes when I get in my car it wont start and the security light just stays on. After about 3 minutes or so it will go off and the car will start. How can I fix this?
Car is A 2000 TransAm.

Sounds like it's not recognizing the key pelet resistance - first thing I'd do is try another key or clean the one you have. If that doesn't work you'll need to get it fixed, or do a VATS bypass - you can also have VATS turned off.

You may need a new lock cylinder. There are a pair of very fine wires that attach to the cylinder, they often break under the insulation and cause the problem you are describing.

i wouldnt bypass the vats
thats the only thing keeping sumbody from using pliers to break your swtch over and taking your ride! either way, i would just get a brand new code cut vats key w the resistor. the resistor might just be worn down and doesnt give the computer enough time to determin the value yet before you crank it! wouldnt bypass it tho, i could steal your car in 2 minutes if i was a thief!
