Default Rear wheel bearing replacement question

How far into the rear axle tubes do the rear wheel bearings need to go?

Do I just whack them in until they wont go any further?

Thanks

Not too far. the seal has to fit. If you are hitting the outer race, you'll feel it when it stops.

Is there a write up anywhere on how to replace a wheel bearing.

LOL. You moved here. Someone already answered your post in the other forum too.

Anyway, there is a notch in each side axle tube where it stops the bearing from moving in. You just keep hitting the bearings until they seat on these notches. Of course don't hit on the bearings directly but use something to rest on the bearing cage first, like an old bearing or the bearing race driver that you rented from Autozone.
