Default oil drain plug

just got a oil change and the oil drain plug was leaking a little, so i got under there to tighten it and the plug only tighten so much then turned loose again, now its leaking bad and it won't tighten is it just the plug (easy fix) or the threads in the oil pan are bad and i might need a oil pan, this happen right before work so i'll have to do when i get off.

You could use a little black RTV, it may fill in the gaps, its a temp fix but after wards get a new plug, if it still leaks, time for a pan which can be removed inside the veh.

It's likely the threads on the plug bolt itself. I had this happen on a truck - I just went down the street to autozone and picked up a fram oil drain plug - the kind with the goofy llittle hose so you don't have to remove the plug. I'd stick with the dealer plug though for the long term.

Who did your last oil change?I work for a lube place. The
place that did your oil change probably over tightened
your drain plug and stripped the pan.

And if that were the case, I'd personally put a helicoil in it or thread it for a larger bolt instead of changing the pan.
