What to look out for...NEWB ALERT!!!! Hey,
I'm a new member to the board and I am buying my first LT1. I have had a 2000 v6 camaro, and currently own a 1998 firebird. I am looking in to buying a white 96 trans am a4 with 144000 miles. What i'm wanting to know is what are the common issues with these cars. What do I need to look for before buying it? I looked the car over and it has some obvious issues.
1. Passenger headlight comes up about 2 inches then grinds loudly
2. Drivers side window tips in toward the car when door is open
3. Passenger side window motor is going out
4. No fog light switch. When headlights come on so do fog lights
5. Passenger Breaklight is broken
6. Console is loose, you can pick it up and move it
7. Passenger switch has no detent on switches
8. On start up seems like battery is dead, like it doesn't want to kick over then it cranks
9. Seems like there is a bearing going bad. There is a little bit of a howl when it is Idling around the altenator.
I'm buying the car for 3100 and i know that it won't be mint for that price. But any help is greatly appreciated.

Only issues I can think of is the ones you have already listed of which they all seem to be minor and the normal issues you start running into with a car that's getting a little older.
