Default Rack and pinion?

I see 2 different racks listed for a 2000 WS6.

I standard 2.8 and preformance 2.2 (steeringrack.com).

Dealers claims only one rack listed for our WS6 cars.

Is this true?

What is the difference?

My car steering is to firm so I want it looser.

Was the firm steering a factory option?

Not sure if the former owner changed it or not.

I'm only postulating, but I would think that the number (2.2 or 2.8) refers to the number of turns from lock to lock. The performance rack will have a higher steering ratio.

I don't think this should make a difference in regards to firmness.

The angle where the steering shaft connects is different. I had to go through a couple to get the right one. Autozone had 2 different listings, one in stock, one a special order. After going to a couple stores I found the right one, even though they had the same part number. I would have had to dimple the header tube if I didnt look.
