Amsoil, nothing less, nothing more! (cause there isn't!) Every 6 months.

i like M1 but it just drinks too much oil up 5w30, i put it in and i had to refill half way thru the oil change cycle and i originally put 6 quarts in, its really thin, i left my car parked for 2 weeks and i had an oil leak in the car, took it out and put german castrol and had no problems, but maybe its just me, oh and i was on a kn filter

I had a high consumption with Royal Purple But since I've switched to the German Castrol it has sloooowed way down and the Wix filters catch more "dirt". Try cutting a Fram filter open vs a Wix filter, yep! no more Fram!!

Try Amsoil, its great stuff, and will slow or stop oil consumption, unless you have a leak that is.

pennzoil platinum 5w30 or 10w30..with either a purolator oil filter or AC delco oil filter..130K miles and no problems..(knock on wood)..i have used mobil 1 and GC a while ago, but for the most part its been pennzoil platinum..when i did my cam swap everything was spotless inside the motor and the old cam with 125K miles on it looked pretty much like new

Bringing this post back from the dead...
I've always used Mobil 1 5W-30 but after some research, I just purchased Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 with an AC Delco filter to see if it will help to alleviate the cold start valvetrain clatter I get. I've used M1 in my 87, 94, 99 and my current 02 Z28 so this is a bit of a change... hopefully for the better based on the comments/research I've seen here.

I have used royal purple for 80000 miles and had lifter problems... talked to a guy who works at a machine shop and he says royal purple is bad news for lifters..... And let me point out my lifters failed twice. Im going to replace them again and use mobil 1 extended performance. I hope to god mobil is as good as they say. As for oil filters i have tried fram, mobil 1, k&n, and purolator pure one. I found that the k&n didnt really filter all that much. The fram was a joke when it came to oil pressure. It came down to the pure one and the mobil one. Since they both seemed to do the same job i stuck with the pure one simply because its half the price. Lol.

GC 0W-30 with a A/C Delco PF46 filter. Had no problems yet with it and my oil pressure was up a little from my old 2 year old combo of Kendall 10w-30 and NAPA Gold Filter. Mild oil consumption going on, about 1 quart every month, don't drive much.
Thinking about trying out Amsoil 5W-30 with a KN #2006.

Wow iv noticed that no one on here uses castrol. I bought my car with 92000 on it and the guy ran Castrol GTX 10W-40. I use the fram oil filter with grip and works great. Should i switch to synthetic with this many miles??
