Default Loss of power around 2k rpm

Im pretty competent with cars, but the newer stuff is a little above my head. My 00 z seems to have a soft spot or lag during driving around 2k rpm.

Ive thrown a code that said my left and right banks were lean, Im guessing mass air flow sensor. I tried cleaning out my mass air flow sensor by spraying some cleaner up in there but i thought maybe i need to disasemble it to get it properly cleaned.

Any ideas am i on the right track for fixing my problem?

First of all take it off to clean it. and make sure that your o2 sensors are not going out on you.

tell me when the last time your fuel filter was replaced.. lean O's sounds like a fuel pressure problem.

Lean condition on both banks leads me to believe fuel pump going out or fuel filter clogged. It could be form an over oiled K&N filter contaminating the MAF or an Air leak after the MAF as well.

Ive had the car for about 8K miles and it has 104 on it and ive never replaced it the fuel filter could be the problem. Ill try to replace it today.

I just cleaned up my K&N filter ther other day because of this problem. Ill look for an air leak after the MAF.

A dumb question. Where is the fuel filter on my car?

Well just to let you know i work on chevy, gmc, pontiac, etc for a living. I have never to this day seen a fuel filter be the problem for those codes. Its almost always these issues. A dirty mass air flow, a vacuum leak which with the ls1 is usually the rubber intake gaskets shrink up and leak a little bit. I have never seen two o2 sensors go out at one time eithier. You need to hook it up to a computer and make sure you maf is going up and down steedy with the throttle. You will need to remove the front maf housing and spray cleaner directly on the filaments unless your descreened then you can still acess the filmanets with the housing still toghther.
