Default 6k RPM car shut off, cranks but won't fire.

On a little cruise last night I hit about 6k RPM and the car just shut off. It will turn over but won't start. No leaks, no wierd noises except for a backfire every now and then, oil looks good.

Ideas?

New Z06 MAF, only a few weeks old. How would o2 sensors cause a car to just violently shut off like that?

Could it have jumped timing? I'll go through and check fuses.

I had my ABS fuse blow one time.. shuts down the entire car. I would let it spin over but acted like it would never crank. I replaced the fuse it ran fine. A few months later the fuel pump went out. Came to find out there was a short in my fuel pump that blew my ABS fuse, or so I was told. Could be a possiblilty

TTT checked fuses finally, everything looked ok. The car backfires when it turns over, would that be a timing problem? I'm afraid since it happened at WOT that quite a bit of damage was caused but I don't know how to diagnose it.

Have you verified you are getting fuel and spark? If so it "should" fire. Check the connection to your crankshaft sensor. Any SES light or codes stored? You could also do a compression test as well to make sure.

Check to make sure you are getting compression, fuel, and spark. Once you test all those it will be easier to diagnose.

I'm hoping it's a sensor. Heard you have to take the intake off to get to the cam sensor, not something I'm looking forward to.

Did you check your relays also? Those are the big block looking things in your fuse box.

Start swapping the ignition and fuel relays with your number two fan relay and see if that works.

I can't tell if the SES light is on if it doesn't start because it's always on when the key is on. I need to see if it has any codes just haven't been able to yet. Been busy. This is helping though.

damm, did you check the ses light? try unpluging the sensors 1 by 1 if you have a scanner only to erase the codes after words! try unplugging each sesnor and taking it for a drive! the car will run on safe mode so dont worry
