WS.6 will not start !!
Hi fellas my former 98 Trans Am will not start !! I sold to my sister a year ago and she called me this morning . She said that everything was good a couple of days ago and then all of a sudden it will not start , she said that the radio , wipers , lights and windows all work but when the key is on in the start position it will not start . She had a mechanic over today and he tested the starter at auto zone but the starter was good . I assume it could be the fuel pump or the Anti Theft system on the car ( factory ) can you guys lead me down a possible solution ? She has two little daughters and Easter is around the corner , she is a single mom and could really use your help . Thanks all in advance !!!

She is calling her B/F to ask him that right now , you guys are great to reply that fast . We expected that the forums may be a little slow due to Easter ! As soon as she gets back to me I'll post up .... thanks again .

she can try cleaning the chip in the key...but it can be a # of things, clutch safety switch (if its a auto then thats 1 less thing) theres a wire that breaks on the ignition cylinder or the actual ignition can be all dirty inside. i guess the easiest thing she can do now is at least try cleaning the key. Maybe try locking and unlocking the door with the key and try the keyless entry also with all doors closed....try doing a search this topic has been covered alot. goodluck

A fuse poping is the sign of a short like maby a hot wire is pinched inbetween somthing that is making it ground out. Check the wires that go to the starter and follow them maby you get lucky and find it. But you have to trubble shoot it to find it ELE can be a pain in the butt, need to find a wiring diagram or maby call the dealer sometime they can help you over the phone, most the time they have seen that problem more than once.
