Help It's Smoking!! Oh god what did I do!! Yesterday I did an oil change on my new TA. Went with 5w30 Mobil 1 and an AC Delco filter. I also have a can of seafoam in the gas tank only. So today I go out and get all the stuff I need to do a coolant flush and change the M6 Fluid. I also removed the battery and dumped out the overflow tank. As I restart the car to run the flush through, I notice this!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGL1DjqZm5Q What the hell is going on and is my engine going to blow up or catch on fire? |
Looks like you developed an exhaust leak. Does it dissipate quickly? Looks like it in the video. |
I have started the car twice now to finish the coolant flush and both times this did not reoccur. I think it may have been the Seafoam finding a way out and an exhaust leak sounds plausible. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it comes back again. Scared the crap out of me though!! |
looks like the seafoam smoke leaking from an exhaust leak right off the head, check the bolts on the air tube against the manifold, mine backed out... |
good leak tester !! |
Haha. True!! |
Are you sure you didn't get oil on the motor during the oil change and now it burning off? |
Nope, used a funnel to put the oil in. It was smoking the entire time the engine was running. Once I stopped it, the smoke quickly stopped. Within 10 seconds or so. I drove it to work today, didn't see any problems. |
