Default You have got to be kidding me???

So last night I was going down my road and decided to get up on it a little bit. Well my car made a big slamming noise from under my center counsel, well I am pretty familiar with this noise seeing that I had to replace 3 trans mounts in my A4 93 Z28. I called 3 local parts store and none of them can get it. The dealership wants 100 bucks for a stinking trans mount...you have got to be kidding me, my LT1 trans mount was 10 bucks! Is it the fact that I have a M6 now or cause it is a newer car??? If anyone can shed some light on this it would be great. I dont really wanna get a poly one right now cause I dont have the $$$ so next time it breaks I will get one.

Thanks

Car info in sig.

Been there...no one carries or makes a tranny mount for a 98 camaro. Stealership only $95.

Yeah autozone should have the energy suspension mounts in stock, I've always found them rather easily....

Don't run the Poly trans mount for too long with stock motor mounts. Bad idea for the bellhousings sake. If you go poly/poly u'll be fine. Ws6store sells them all together for like $60

Is the mid summer too long if I change the trans mount in the next week or 2?

Actually depends on how hard you drive it. If your gentle with it i don't see why you couldn't extend your luck. I drove on mine for about a month before i tossed in the motor mounts.

I used a LT1 mount in my '99 and it worked fine. The only thing that is different is the thread pitch on the stud that goes through the crossmember, I just got a washer and a nut from the hardware store. Everthing cost me like 12 bucks.

I thought my mount was bad and bought a trans mount for a 93-97 6spd 5.7 and it was the same (not failsafe though). The difference is the bolt diameter to the cross member and the fact that the 98-02 mount is supposed to be a failsafe mount meaning if it does split, it wont seperate compeletly.

I got it at Advance auto parts for $13.

how is the bolt diameter different on a 93-97 peice? is it larger? smaller?? im not sure im folowing what needs to be changed in order to use a 93 to 97 peice? i also thought the newer ls1 mounts where fluid filled, does this affect anything adversly when replacing with the LT1 style rubber mount?

LS1 is rubber too. What they are saying is the stud is a different size, you need to take the trans mount to your local hardware store and find a nut and washer that will fit it.
