I've had good results from using the K/N oil filters I use them on all my cars now just because my truck that has 170,000 miles on it has had cleen oil every time I change it, since I started using the k/n . I've used several brands havent found one better than K/N yet not to say thier isnt one. Also k/n had a place to put a wrench on the end its nice for our cars becaus you can hardly fit a filter wrench on them to get them off.

The AcDelco filer number for your car is a PF46 the next biggest one that I know of is a PF61 filter, it is the same one that is put on the Big Cadillac Northstar motors. It is .5 qts more. If that aint big enough give a call to a company that does remote mount oil filters

I have always ran Pepboys cheapest filter. Some of the more expensive filters attempt to filter too fine of a micron rating & can clog easily. The cheaper filters have a higher micron filtering, but anything big enough to hurt your motor will still get caught in them. In three years I have never had a single issue.
And I have only run Castrol GTX 10w30 also.

On the V6's you can use the longer 4WD 4.3L filter, and on LT1s you can use a PH5 (instead of the short PH30 in Fram world - even though I never use Fram) I like Napa Golds.

Just make sure to check ground clearance with a longer filter.....
If you are running good oil (you are), a good quality filter (you are), just change your fluids regularly and you will be fine.

I remember the filter tests that showed AC Delco filters to be pretty darn good. I think the Pure Ones got a little higher score so I may go with the stock size on that next change. Sticking with Mobil One though! Wally World 5 quart jugs is the way to go!

MI-206 right now.
Next change I'm going with an Amsoil EaO in the larger size (like the 206).
The M1s, Wix Golds, K&N Golds, Delco Golds (IF you can still find them!) are all GREAT filters.
But as far as I know the Amsoil blasts them ALL away in terms of filtering efficiency vs. flow rates (cold and otherwise) vs. capacity and everything else.
YES you pay for it, but it IS worth it!!
