Whoever told you that is a full blown idiot. Change it every 15k miles or 1 year.

hell yea its good to change it!! well some cars that havent changed the tranny fluid for like 100,000 miles or so usally hav black fluid in the tranny and the fluid would smell lik clutch! the old dirty fluid and friction are what is barely holding that tranny together! i heard of some people changing the fluid and then there tranny goes out a day after! but in your case im sure this is not your problem as your car is healthy with those miles! but u will notice a much better shifting improvment when u change the fluid!

The only time I wouldnt change my tranny fluid is if the tranny was about to go... because like he said the fluid is the only thing holding the tranny together

this is how simple it is, you go under your car and remove the tranny pan bolts, and drop the pan, its better to do it when hot, that way more fluid will come out! then after the pan is off replace the filter and clean the magnet on the inner side of the pan! then put everything in and fill up to capacity from the dipstick and then you have to make sure all the fluids are topped off! and you can drive how ever you want after words

no. but you do need to correct whoever told you you didnt need to change it. theoretically, you cant ever change that fluid too often.

big to this though. this is the one time you wouldnt want to change it.

even in this case, you'd need to be saving up for a rebuild, lol. i doubt you're in that situation though.

I agree. If you have gone way past the change intervals, then don't change it.

If you go past the interval just do a pan and filter drop. That way you don't wash anything out of there. I've done yearly pan drops on all of my cars and have never been a problem. if you experience any slipping - you already had a problem and the flush just made it more apparent. Just like the "synthetics cause leaks" fallacy.

when you unbolt the pan loosen up the bolts on the front and remove them in the rear if your doing it on ramps or jack stands so that some of the fluid will drain before you drop the whole pan. You will also need to get the linkage tied or tucked over out of the way. Other wise your gonna have a mess. It will also be a hot mess if you do it with the car warmed up.

asking if changing auto tranny fluid is good is the same as asking if sex is good

for the people saying that the tranny went to the ******* after they did a fluid and filter change, the only reason it did that was because the tranny was already in the *******, they would have gotten more miles out of it if they left the fluid alone but its still a ticking timebomb before it goes out

the thing i've noticed about transmissions is you either have to change the fluid religiously (30,000 miles) or not at all, the only problem is people forget and after 90,000 miles they do the fluid and its too late

they arent an idiot at all, it is bad to change the fluid on a high mileage transmission, i would never ever change the fluid on a transmission with over 130k miles if it has never been changed before
