Today i decided to see how much mpg my car was getting from half a tank , and i drove highway going about 65MPH...Reseted my mile meter and I was getting No **** 50 Miles to a Quart....is this bad?????

The gauge is more of a dummy gauge than anything i think. The first half always goes down like its being sipped through a straw and the second half gets chugged according to my gauge. Just do mpg using an entire tank and see what you get.

Well I dont know how u calculated that but the way you should do it is, fill up your tank, then before you pull out the gas station, reset the mileage and then when its time to fill up take how many miles you went and how many gallons you used and devide mileage/gallons = MPG. Now Im not sure if there is a margin of error on gas station pumps, I wouldn't be surprised if its in their favor, but there are mile markers on the highways you can check and see if you odometer is working correctly.

Are you trying to say you got 50 mpg on a quarter of a tank, or you got 50 miles on a quarter of a tank?

Even the Honda Insight only gets 70 MPG. Why are you calculating your mileage by the quart? Measure how many gallons it takes to refill the tank from where you started. Its the only way to calculate mileage.

i think the OP is saying that he was sitting at half a tank on the highway and he reset the trip, to see how many miles he could go from half a tank to 1/4 tank

and all i can think of is shame on you for not noticing f-bodies take a quick dive when after they hit half a tank

hell i can get over 150 miles on the first 1/4 tank

what your doing really means nothing at all, the only accurate way of calculating mileage is starting from a full tank and zero on the trip and just driving and then the next time you fill up you can divide miles driven by gallons you put in

Agreed. If you can't put "er" at the end of "quart" then don't waste our ******* time. Half the people in this thread thought he was saying 50 miles to the quart of gas.

50 miles to a quart... 1 quart = 1/4 gallon so you are getting 200 MPG?

By the way I don't know what kind of mythical MPG conclusions you are coming to (more importantly how you're getting there) but don't put any stock in the needle. To get true MPG, you need to fill up the tank and divide miles traveled (on trip counter) by gallons put into the tank.
