anyone know what might help with the whining sound coming from the rear when i go down the highway?

Is the fluid full? Maybe do a fluid change.

I had the same thing awhile back, and it ended up being my rear pinion seal bearing going out. Get it fixed asap, because mine ended up burning up and leaving me on the side of the road with axle fluid leaking all over the ground from the seal. It's a pretty quick fix for a decent mechanic though.
