Default Headlight door dosn't always open?

hi everyone. having problems with my passenger headlight door. car is rarely driven, 2000 ws-6. has 22k miles on it. i don't know if the motor is bad. sometimes it will open and sometimes it won't. when it does open everything seems fine. no loud noises coming from the motor etc. harness appears to be in exc shape. what do you think i should do, before i replace the motor. i don't like driving the car at night due to this. kinda sucks. thanks in advance

Had/Have the same problem with my 98 TA. Occasionally I soak the mechanism with wd-40 using the straw that comes with it and it will work perfectly for a few months then act up again. pop the hood, and have someone sit in the car and flip the headlights open and closed a bunch. If it wont open, help it open by lifting it gently. Now watch the black circular **** rotate back and forth as the light is opened and closed. Spray a ton of wd-40 under that **** while it is worked open and closed. Thats what fixed mine...

check to see if it is hitting the hood that's what mine was doing.
