Headers Don't Fit I have run into a problem with my ARH headers. The headers fit fine, but the Air fittings are different. I have a 98 Camaro and since I have a FAST intake without a EGR I got headers with just the Air fittings. I believe that they are 2001-2002. The problem is that on one side the fitting looks like the connector is slightly different than my car's Air attachment. At least it is angled differently. On the other side I have the same problem and the fitting is in a slightly different location. I know that people are going to tell me to eliminate the Air on my car, but since I went with cats I don't want to do that. Does anyone have any ideas how I can handle this. I plan to call them first thing in the morning, but by the time I realized the problem ARH was already closed for the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
im pretty sure you could try to bend the tubing to fit(not sure though) |
thats exactly what i did to get my air tubes lined up, i twisted the ends to line them up with the headers. worked perfect. just make sure u use the gaskets. |
Well the problem is that the hook-up is in the right position on the passenger side, but in a different position on the drivers side from the stock manifolds. That isn't as much of an issue as is the fact that the connectors are rotated from the stock position and I don't think that the tubing can be rotated that much. On the passenger side I would need to rotate it about 90 degrees and I am sure that the tubing will kink. Had I known this before they were installed in the car, I could have just cut them off and welded them back on in the right position. Now it looks like I am going to have to cap them off and eliminate the Air system totally. |
Why didn't you just order a set for a 98 without the EGR? |
That's what I should have done, but they are already installed in the car and they aren't coming back out. I didn't notice the problem until they were installed and the spark plugs in. Taking them out now is not an option. I guess we will try to carefully twist the AIR line to fit and if that doesn't work, just cap it off and eliminate the AIR system entirely. |
