Default Mac Exhaust Good deal?

I am looking for an exhaust system for my father's 98 z28 for Christmas and the best deal I have found is the Mac Exhaust for $389.99. How does the Mac exhaust sound and is it worth the money? The reason I have chosen this exhaust is I want to stay under $400. I have also been looking for used exhaust but I am having trouble finding anything in my price range.

I have the macs and they are ok. I have seen tests and they loose to the LT's between 5-10 hp at the wheels depending on the setup. The price is right for them, but when you take the tune cost into consideration, I would just go with stainless steel LT's. I think Hooker has a new setup for around 500-600. ITs always been in my opinion that you get what you pay for. just my 2cents

i had the mac catback on my 88 trans am. It sounds pretty good. I got mine for alot better of a price than that though. i think i found mine for 275 or something. The fit good and they sound good. The flowpath mufflers that come with them have that pingy metallic sound. The tips that come with them are resonated. I didnt like them so i just took them off and ran it off the tail pipes

Best deal is the stainless Gibson exhaust for less than $500. LM performance carries it.

A few weeks ago I bought a magnaflow stainless cat-back exhaust
from one of the sponsors on this board for $380 shipped. I love it.
You can also get an SLP LM1 or LM2 stainless cat-back for $389 shipped.

IMO the Magnaflow & the SLP cat-backs are the best bang for your
buck cat-backs you can buy. They are both stainless. They both have
lifetime warranties, & they both flow really well.

Before you decide on what you want you should go to ls1sounds.com
to get a good idea of what it will sound like.
