Question about Loudmouth with no cats
Hey guys! It's been a while since I last posted on here, but school is pretty tough this year. Well, I finally ordered a black TSP lid and O2 sims. I was wondering just how loud the loudmouth exhaust is without any cats on an A4? Lately I've found the exhaust to be too quiet, and I made a post a while back and I heard alot about cutting the cats, and now I'm finally doing it. The louder the better. So, will I really notice THAT much of a difference with no cats than with cats?

Its alright as long as you dont step on the gas. I just put it in neutral and coast by the cops, so I wouldn't have any problems.

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
I'm going to do a similar set up on my car within the next few weeks....SLP long-tube headers, off-road pipes, and SLP Y-pipe all running to my Loud Mouth. After jacking up the car last night to "trial" fit the headers, I think I'm gonna need to score a lift in order to get the car high enough. I think I could do the driver's side with no problem with the floor jack, but the passenger side didn't look so promising.

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
When I only had the SLP Lm and stock headers and y-pipe I gutted my own cats. I just put the front of my car up on the ramps and jacked up the rear up. Took me about 2-3 hrs to get the pipes off, gut them, and replce them. What a difference....sounds awesome. Well after a few months of that it sounded too quiet for me so I went out and got the FLP LT's, oryp, and put in a new cma for shyts and giggles. If you wanna talk about loud and raspy this is it. I freakin love it. It's not really bad when coasting, but above 5k rpms and riding next to a jersey wall we're talkin NASCAR!!! FAWKIN AWESOME and I LOVE IT!!! The Louder the Better. Just a side note...your parents, neighbors, and girlfriend will hate it.

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
Well, tomorrow I'm getting the cats cut off and welding pipes in their place. I was wondering whether my 1/4 times will be any different since I'm putting the TSP lid on tomorrow also. Will mile 1/4 time be higher, stay the same, or be lower since I will no longer have cats? Thanks everyone!

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
I have some videos of my car in the link in my sig,
I have Mac's w/ORP and LM. I love the sound and I get people looking at my car when I drive down the street like WTF is that hahaha
Its fun to have for a while but I have had it for a couple years and the cops just love to follow me around. So I might go with a quieter set up and run electric cutouts after the headers.

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
Yeah, if you gut or cut your cats you will need O2 sims so you won't have an SES light lit up. I got mine from Texas Speed and Performance along with the TSP lid and I am very pleased with how fast it got here. I ordered it late Tuesday (well about 6pm) and they were here for me Friday when I got home from school.

It will be loud. I have the whole SLP set up. You will get attention everywhere you go. It's painfully loud. I keep telling everyone my next mod is hearing aids and a gas mask. Loud and stinky describes it best. Enjoy!

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
I just got my setup going, LM, SLP headers, orp, and Ypipe. It's glorious. The tingle down your spine when you fire it up is amazing. Once you hit the powerband when accelerating the beast is unleashed. I've had someone who does nothing but work on 60's muscle cars tell me that it's the baddest sounding exhaust he's heard in a long time. Makes him want to go out and get a LS1 with the same setup.

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
I was running Pacsetter LT's and ORY pipe and with the Loudmouth resonator installed, it was too raspy for my taste. I replaced the resonator with an 18" Bullet muffler and it helped with the raspiness. It's still loud as hell but with less rasp. I get at least one comment per day about how good it sounds.

Re: Question about Loudmouth with no cats
I have MAC midlegth headers and ORY pipe and a loudmouth which = too raspy Im going to weld in 2 bullets into the y pipe where the cats would go hopefully this will kill the raspyness
