LT's burning wires?

I was thinking about getting some long tube headers and was wondering if there will be problems with wires burning?

None what-so-ever as long as they are properly installed.

make sure you get the extensions on your o2 sensors and tuck them out of the way! shouldnt be a prob if done properly. :drive:

My buddy has a LT1 Formula and is always burning wires due to his LT headers. In fact, he just burned one tonight!

get o2 extensions and wire tie them out of the way; problem solved.

You have to be careful about more than just the O2 wires. There is a large bundle of wires that runs down the passenger side strut tower that contains many PCM wires to sensors, also watch for starter wires. You must be careful to keep those wires out of the way and protected. I used some thermal wrap and shifted the whole bunch of wires around to get extra clearance.

Just be careful with the install and take your time. Heat wrap is also good insurance.

You'll only have problems if you don't check clearance. If there are any issues, you can re-route some wires. After my Hooker install my heater box and rear plug wire on pass side cought on fire on the dyno. I don't blame hooker, as every car has tolerance and every part has tolerance, we just have to be smart enough to check everything during the install.

Repaired the heater box and bought thermal shielding tape for all wires in vacinity of headers & re- routed them- no problems since. BTW- my car has re-located coil packs- I believe there should be no problems with stock coil & wire loca- but check first.
