question about dipstick/oil level

a ls1 holds 5.5 quarts of oil correct? well i put 5.5 quarts in and its below the add mark on the stick. the other half quart brings it up to the add mark. do these engines have 2 different size oil pans available? or do i just need a longer dipstick:eyes:

You're fine, just run with 6 qts.
