Daily Driver - Bolt-On's? Alright, I've searched and have done my reading, but I want your guy's opinions. My buddy has an 02' SS M6. It currently has an SLP cat-back, SLP Lid, and a Hurst Short Throw. The car is too slow for him and he's wanting some more power, BUT on a limited income basis. I've searched and have come up with this: 160* Thermostat Cheaper Headers Rear o2 delete w/ tune AIR Delete w/ tune EGR Delete w/ tune Ported & Polised Throttle Body Ported & Polished Intake Single Exhaust Cut-Out Walbro Pump Underdrive Pulley. Now, are these what he'd be good with on a daily driver? and would they push the most for the buck besides some n2o? Thanks guys! |
dont buy a fuel pump or thermostat. you can port and polish the tb and intake yourself. tb is the only thing i would do. dont get the cheapest headers you see. lpp are cheaper and are stainless. some drag radials would be good. |
That would be fine and fun for a daily. Possible gears pending on trans. Since hes got a catback, I wouldnt bother with the cut-out... EDIT: See its an M6. |
I drive mine 500 miles a week and it's fully modded and still bringing down over 20 mpg. I'd tell him to go for it but don't cheap out on the headers. |

depending on exactly how tight the budget is...you could easily do without the UDP. yeah you may gain 5hp...but for the $200-300 it could be spent elsewhere. |
I'd probably just get some pace setter lt's. On my lt1 camaro they seemed to do really good and the coat on them was pretty good too. |

i'd skip the 160* thermostat and since it's an 02 the car doesn't have an EGR. |
