Best way to spend a Grand
Ok I have been out of the game for awhile and have forgotten most of my vast knowledge as it pertains to LS1's that are not 98's. I have a friend who is not computer literate and has an 01 SS with only a CAI and wants to get the best bang for his buck for $1,000.00 . We have friends that can do the install of everything for free so labor is not a factor. What do you guys think ?

Pretty much everyone has the same idea I do, anyone have recommendations on a cam for this type setup something around a 226? I purchased my G5X1 when it was the new thing on the block to show you how long its been for me.

X2 ... If you have a grand and you want the most power that you can get right away, you can't beat a good sized wet shot. You could get a good kit with all the safety windows and junk for a grand... In the short term that is the best bang for your buck. Long term... LTs and Duals(would be really nice with free labor for a custom set).

Thunder Racing LS1 Cam Swap Package w/ Single Valve Springs (99-TR224/227-114 <thats the part number) $600
pace setter headers/ o/r y-pipe and o2 sensor extensions $400
theres your grand now all you need is a tune (would be better if you could do a ls6 intake and ported tb also)

don't even think about a cam if it's auto on the stock stall. stall first.
but yes i agree with longtubes, and suspension is always fun. i did everything in my sig and a bunch more little stuff for under $1000. bought almost everything used and installed it all myself.
