How to lock engine down
How to lock engine down I need to install a crank pulley and need to lock down the engine in my A4, is there any why to lock it in place without droping the starter and using a flywheel tool or screw driver? Won't putting it in drive and pulling the parking brake work?
Pictures of Powerbond pulley I just got a powerbond 25% underdrive pulley and doesn't look like the picture that was on the web page so I need to know if its right. Does anyone have picture of theirs? I will post one later of mine.
No putting it in drive won't work.
Someone with a stick shift might get away with putting it in gear (like 5th or 6th...putting it in first you might push it through the parking brake), but an automatic transmission essentially does nothing without the engine running to run the pump inside it.

Summit sells a tool that threads into the puller holes for turning the engine over. Will that work to hold it while tightening and loosening the crank bolt or would that be too much stress on the crank key?
