Default Did I just ruin 2 good o2 sensors?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but it relates to my header install.

Obviously the stock o2 sensors dont work (not long enough), and didnt have time to wait for extensions, so I just cut the wires on my o2's and soldered some wire in to make them longer. I was told thats a no no, (after the fact) and that you get inaccurate readings after that.

Is that true? Or am I going to be OK?

yea thats definitely a no no, u need to get some new o2 sensors and extensions. from experience i can tell you stay away from bosch. stick with either denso or ac delco. if you dont want to deal with extensions you can go with vette 02s but id rather have extensions.

My extended ones work just fine, but I didn't do it myself, I had the owner of a shop do it. Time will tell if they actually work okay, and if they don't, no biggie, I'll just get some vette O2s since I don't wanna deal with extensions.

Hmmmm, I think maybe ill try it, and see if they work ok. I used 18gauge stranded copper wire, it should be very low resistance.

Anyone else have experience with this?

as long as you're using the same guage wire and solder it correctly, it shouldn't give you bad readings. it's actually better to solder wires together than to use the pinch connectors that some companies like pacesetter include with their LTs since it's a more solid connection. i've delt with electronics since i was 16 and would always recommend soldering over pinch connectors.

however i would also recommend buying the extenders over soldering, but since you've already soldered....

Yes. Both of my 02's were replaced back in 2006, the monkey who put them in layed my wires right onto my LT's. Both burned through in 1 days time. I took it back and they did exactly that. Spliced new wires into all the wires on both sides. They're still perfect 3 years later.

Soldering them will be better than extensions because the wire will not be broken by the plugs.

I used solder then heat shrinked the connections. So ill try them and let you all know how this goes. Also, what can I use to wrap all these wires together, like the mesh stuff around the factory o2? Where can I get it?
