Magnaflows and Tune

I have a 98 SS Vert mostly stock. I want to put Magnaflow Exhaust onit with single tips. Do I need to get a tune after it is installed? And if so what tuner should I get. Help pleases.

so you just did the magnaflow catback correct? no i would not suggest getting it tuned at that point, the stock tune can easily compensate for that and you should have a nice little gain from it. is that all the mods you have? what do you have planned?

no tune needed with a catback

If you really want you could always get a lifetime tune and go in for your catback. That's what I'm doing since my mod list is coming along pretty slowly. I plan on getting at least 3 seperate tunes which is only costing me $50 more than a full one time tune.

no tune for magnaflow only

No, you don't. But I will tell you my experience with the Magnaflow cat-back. The car dyno'd 303rwhp stock. 295 after the magnaflow cat-back. 312rwhp after the tune. Same Dyno, Same day.

You don't need a tune. I installed the exact same exhaust a few
months ago. The instructions say to just disconnect the battery
so that the stock computer can adjust the idle.

the magnaflow catback makes you lose power?

omcar 03-24-2009 08:17 AM

No power loss...check my sig.

You dont really need a tune until after you install a cam...I would do all your bolt ons first.
