film inside my intake?

I was replacing my TB, thanks Jantzer, and noticed that there is a slight film that looks like oil in the intake. This cannot be good. Anyone have any answers? There is no pooling but it is a very thin coating.

I dont know much about this stuff, but it may just be oil from your air filter. I believe I've heard of people having that problem.

That oil is from the PCV system.

Yep, oil from the PCV system. You're right, it's not good. It will build up in the intake ports of your heads, reducing flow. It will reduce the octane of your fuel, causing knock. I sugest you install a catch can. LS6 PCV system will help, but is not a cure-all.

What is this catch can and where can I get it. Is this something that I will ned totake the intake off and clean on regular basis? The car is a 2001 TA WS6.

The simplest approach is to go to Sears and get one of those air-water separator things sold for air compressors and just use some 3/8 fuel line to plum it in between the pcv valve and the TB. But try the search function and you will find many other designs; I think the bigger ones may work better than the Sears unit.
