With the old tuned length the issue was with the headers.

It's the collectors on the headers. Mine have been bashed in over the past couple years so they don't scrape as bad anymore. But ground clearance is pretty awful even at stock height. I never drive the car anymore so I have contemplated dropping it with stranos.

Get some pictures if the header pipes go in all different crazy directions they are the first gen.. See pic at beginning of thread. It really depends what you are buying them for. I paid $225 so I can deal with some of the issues.

Yup those are the old style.you can see all the flat spots at the bottom of passenger side collector. Exactly what mine look like. Only issue I see is the one header pipe was clearanced on pass side. This is something most people forget to mention. Old slp headers will torch one of the wires if you don't use their heat wrap. I used a spark plug high temp boot. Your guy bashed in the header to solve the problem.

For 200 bucks might be worth it. I would of bought the tsp headers if they were around back in the day.

I would not buy a header with the primaries crushed to that point (nevermind I'd never buy those old style spaghetti SLP headers), as you're disrupting the exhaust flow.

Not trying to shill for a buddy, but member silversrtman is selling my old TTS headers for around that price with a y pipe. I ran those for years (because back in '02 it was either SLP, FLP, or TTS if you wanted headers) before going to a 1-7/8 ARH. Thick flanges, good quality, good clearances, and easy to install - the SLP's often required unbolting a trans or motor mount and jacking to shift the engine enough to squeeze them in.

IMO, I'd pass on those crushed tuned length SLP headers, for one thing they won't give you the top end power of regular LT headers, and second any performance gains will be minimized with the tubes being crushed.
I think you'd be better off with some Pacesetter painted LT headers.
