best Lid??

Hey guys, is it worth getting the whole SLP cold air package like the following link? Is it worth the 300 bucks, or just get the lid and rock a cheap paper filter?

without reading everyone post I am goign to state that there are no differences in air lids... they are just mere bragging rights. lingenfelter, slp, ftp, mti, blahhhhhhhh... dynos won't even show a 1hp gain from switching to a different lid.

The lids we sell have a larger outlet size and larger volume for more powerful motors. They are designed to work in conjunction with a larger MAF or speed density cars. We never bothered to make a stock sized lid although our 98mm air lid can be used with a stock sized maf with the use of a reducer. It is not going to make more power but it does allow for future growth should you need it.
You are right that on a relatively stock motor that doesn't need the extra flow potential, there is very little difference. However, when you have a motor that needs the extra airflow, you can easily pick up .7-1.3 MPH in the quarter mile with an larger air lid and MAF air flow sensor.

just ordered my SLP lid last night. Im going to replace me old MTI lid that is cracked and has missing tabs and fitment issues. There "is" a diff. in lids. The material that the SLP is made of is far less brittle than the others i have seen or owned. Maybe no dyno difference but quality is way better. I love the looks of the clear MTI lid but i was afraid that it was made from the same HARD plastic that my black one was made of so i went with SLP.
BTW Does the hair dryer on the MAF really work????

In the word of jrp "a lid is a lid is a lid" they all yield the same performance (within tenths of horsepower at least) so your basically getting whtever you think looks the best, and will fit the best. Clear ones give you a more custom option ability and show look, than there's some carbon fiber ones out there(think wht you want on those), and the standby black ones. From wht I hear SLP fits the best and next to no fitment issues, maybe some heat application but thats it. I have seen some very well done custom paint jobs on lids and very nice graphics/decals on them that seperate it from just another black lid. In the end though it really up to you and your tastes and what your wallet can fork over

I've got the clear MTI lid on my '98 Z. Looks badass as hell, but the fitment was terrible. A couple strips of double sided sticky foam fixed the seal with it and I've been happy since! Must admit tho it seems kinda cheaply made like I could break it at any given moment during installation.
