Are you even having trouble with your current battery?

I run an optima red top.

I have a Braille 21lb lightweight battery which is the heaviest one they make but its still anywhere from 10-25 pounds lighter than most conventional sized batteries I also have a 12" subwoofer I say go lightweight.

yellow top optima, batteries in the south dont last unless you have a real good one.

well i'm not home right now but my dad has been starting it up every once in awhile and he said its starting to get a little slow so i figured i might as well put a new one in, don't want to risk it thats all, plus its getting brand new everything else soon so i think its a good time to put a new one in. whats the difference between a rew top and yellow top?

sroach20 Aug 6, 2009 07:19 PM

yellow is deep cycle, you can drain and recharge several times. a regular battery doesnt like to be sucked dry.

I'm getting a braille. My brother has one his chevelle they are nice and light. No reason to relocate.

Sam's Club $60 version. It has to work at least as well as the 3 Red Tops I've been through over the last few years.

die hard for me. the places around me are shady when it comes to owning up to battery problems with optimas or any other brand

My battery was fried and I couldnt locate an Optima in time so I went with an Autozone Duralast battery, the one with the red top. After I took the stickers off it doesn't look too bad, I've been using it for about 3 years now and it's never let me down.

Next battery will be an Optima yellow top.

Optima Yellow Top in all three cars!

johnLs1camaro Aug 6, 2009 11:34 PM

I use to have a red top, but didnt last that long. So now im running the a always start battery or some shit like that. Works fine for me.

01ssreda4 Aug 6, 2009 11:56 PM

optima seems to be hit or miss. I have had a red top for a year and a half and it has performed flawlessly, even with my car sitting at least 6 days a week every week.

hurleyboy12 Aug 6, 2009 11:57 PM

red top here

Kiss_My_99SS Aug 7, 2009 12:04 AM

I'm running a Kinetik HC 1400 battery.

I ahve an INTERSTATE in my Z28 and I have an AUTOZONE DURALAST in my SS. There is no way I am paying $150.00 for a OPTIMA battery
