NGK-TR6's suck

For a daily driver(for me at least). Multiple missfires again. This makes the 3rd time I have had to change plugs in the past 4 months. :bang: I switched from NGK-TR55I's to TR6's to run nitrous wich the work on great, but I don't spray often. They just seem to foul out on me about every 5000 miles of regular driving. Are there any other plugs I can run that will last longer and still run nitrous? Anyone have simular experience with the TR6's?

What are you gapping these plugs at. I have never had any trouble with these plugs before.

BAIN Nov 25, 2003 10:46 AM

.035 :argh:

Your car isn't that much different than all the other guys running them. If the plugs are fouling out that quick I would look for it to be a fuel or timing issue. I have seen where these caused a misfire DTC at idle, but not where the car actually idled rough unless something was wrong with the setup.

It's not the plugs. You have other problems.

Agreed. TR6's are fine for nitrous and for daily driving. I used them for both applications for quite a while.

TR6's are badass....I gap them to .40 and spray and have MTI stage 2 heads and X1 cam.....espesciallly in this hot weather in Houston I have no knock or anything. The 55's are good for plain jane motor cars but for cars that have Juice and H/C on them they are the best way to go. I haven't changed my plugs in 10,000 miles and check them regularly and they look new. Could be your tune or something else.

BAIN Nov 25, 2003 03:52 PM

I have checked my tune before and everything seemed ok. The O2's were 890-905. I did put it on the dyno 2 weeks ago and the A/F was 11-11.5

I have had mine in since my cam install 5K ago with no problems. Been anticipating the nitrous mod but hasn't happend yet, gas milage has not changed and no loss in performance compaired to the stock plugs.

I ran a set 14000 miles in my '98 Z28 with no problems whatsover. They still looked pretty good when they came out. Like the Colonel says, you have other problems.

Hey BAIN-

I have the same problem :(

Mine only happen at 0 MPH, and in my tune I have modified the misfire detection. The misfires started about 2 spark plug sets ago, never had the problem before. I re gapped them to 40, and it has almost gone away. I'll get a SES light every 200 miles or so.

Have you checked your wires to make sure they are 2 clicks in. Or do you need a new set of wires
