LT's. How high do I need to jack the car? I'll be putting in my long tubes tomorrow and am wondering how high I need to get the car up in order to put them in. I don't have a high lift jack, am I going to have to buy one? Off topic, but would 12 inch o2 extensions be enough to reach both of the collectors? Thanks. |
jack rear up as high as it will go by the chunk put blocks/boards etc under the tires let car down go to front and jack it up as high as it will go install blocks under tires go to back of car put boards under jack to raise jack up enough to slide it back under chunk lift up as high as it will go again slide blocks/boards up under tires again go back to front and repeat process one more time CHOCK the tires! a cinder block and 2 2X4 layers will work for front and back.. better to have back a little higher than front this should give you more than enough clearance.. |

Get the car as high as you can go safely and then go another couple of inches lol. |

I dont think all that is necessary.i just got done with mine and i didnt jack the back up at all and had zero problems getting either header in..just used a 3 tone craftsman jack in the front.and supported it with 3 ton jackstands I would just use 4 big jackstands, that should get it a little over 2' off the ground. |
+1.. I have done 3 and couldn't do it by just the front.. It doesn't take that long to jack it up and it makes it MUCH MUCH easier getting under the car and what not doing it that way.. Won't take 10 minutes. |

I lifted it exactly 24 in. 20in jack with 1 4x4. you dont need to jack the back up at all. |
To do all the install work for my ARHs and Corsa I had the car on 4 cinderblocks (with 4 jackstands in place as safeties). This was fine for all but installing the passenger side header when I had to go to 30" off the ground to the centerline of the front hubs. At that height I could just get two blocks under the front tires. Once it was in I lowered it back down and kept rolling with the install. |
we used a friends trailor. we backed my car onto the trailer, took 4 tires/wheels, stacked two on each side, and propped the ramps on top of the tires to give us a ghetto drive-on lift. :) it was the best idea ever, worked great! |
I pretty much had the jack maxd out.id say it was roughly 18 inches off the ground.maybe 20.i had no problems what so ever though.both headers slid right in |
I just finished my LT install today. I used two cender blocks side by side and then put two layers of 2x6s on top of those. The drivers side slid right in, I had to use the jack with a 4x4 on it to jack up the passenger side another couple of inches to get it to slide in. It was pretty easy. I did not jack the rear up at all. Im a pretty big guy at 5'11" and 210lbs, my shoulders are pretty wide and I had plenty of room under there to move around and get it done. |
